    Outpatient Surgery

Outpatient surgery is very common. Since the early 80's more and more surgery is done in the outpatient surgical department. This has many advantages, although often times patients are put off by the thought of "going home too soon"! Much better and faster acting anesthetic drugs, better and safer monitoring techniques and quicker, less invasive surgical techniques make this possible.

Dr. Kloss fully board certified in general surgery and familiar with many operations in the outpatient setting.

Almost all hernia and gallbladder surgery is done as an outpatient. Most breast biopsies are done by minimally invasive techniques and are done in about 20 minutes! Even some of the most advanced lung cancer surgeries like mediastinoscopy can be done as an outpatient. All screening colonoscopies and upper endoscopies are done as an outpatient. The use of propafol for the sedation makes these procedures much safer and more comfortable. Most insurance companies still approve this medication for these procedures.

The same day surgical staff at Tri County Hospital is a very warm and friendly group. They work very hard to relax you while they prepare you for whatever procedure you are having. They are second to none in making your short stay in their unit a pleasant one. Time and time again they receive tops marks on patient-satisfaction surveys. They are a very important part of your surgical experience and Dr. Kloss values their nursing skill in making your stay a safe and pleasant one.

When you are discharged home, the nursing staff will explain any discharge instructions or wound care issues; the following day they will call you on the phone to check on your progress!
